Little Tidbits on Chicago

Here are some little-known facts to help you realize that Chicago truly is one of America’s best cities.

The 4 stars on the Chicago flag represent Fort Dearborn, the Chicago Fire, the World’s Columbian Exposition, and the Century of Progress Exposition.

The Art Institute of Chicago holds the largest collection of Impressionist paintings outside the Louvre in Paris – who knew?

Among the Field Museum’s most prized jewels is the 5,890-carat Chalmerz topaz, which weighed 10,200 carats in the rough – wow!

  1. Chicago is one of my most favorite towns! Plan at least two extra days, for the Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. Gotta see Millenium Park (home of the "Bean"!), and visit the Picasso in Daly Plaza.
