Get to Know Your Local Chapter aka G2KYLC

Why should I participate in the Get To Know Your Local Chapter (G2KYLC) event?
Because you like to have fun! G2KYLC is one of the highlights of every conference. This is your chance to be in the center of the Good Times, meet new people and show off the awesomeness of your chapter.
Okay, that does sound like a lot of fun but I don’t know how to sign up or know what would be required of me. Help!

No problem! It’s as easy as 1-2-3:
  1. Email Susan Ward at susan.ward@aapcca.org to reserve your spot. If you are going to the conference but you are not an officer (yet!), talk with your chapter’s President about reserving a spot. They’ll be glad you did.
  2. Prepare a display board highlighting your local chapter’s accomplishments. Whoa, what? That sounds complicated. Ah, but it’s not - it’s simple – we promise. We’re sure you know a crafty person or scrapbooker (or perhaps a grounded teenager) that can put something snazzy together in a snap. Poster board, construction paper or fabric, glue and some pictures of you and your coding friends at meetings, seminars, etc. Voila, Martha would be proud!
  3. Find a couple volunteers from your chapter who will be attending conference to man your booth in the Exhibit hall on the last day of the conference (Wednesday) during breakfast time. You’ll be sitting around drinking coffee anyway. Why not have people walk by to see all the fun your chapter has had through the years and bombard you with compliments? Sounds like a great way to start the day to me.

All right, go email Susan to RSVP to the party. We can’t wait to see you there!

Prizes! Send us PICTURES

We want to see your pictures, not just any pictures, pictures that you took at Walt Disney World or Walt Disneyland.  Send us photos of you, you and Mickey, you and your family, or just your kids; can be old or recent.  We want to display these photos throughout the conference.  But best of all you could win a PRIZE.  We will be selecting random photos for prizes throughout the next few months.

Here is our first photo from our very own Melanie Mestas.  She is the Director of Conference at AAPC.  She was at Disneyland when she was 4 years old.  Too cute....

*Send your photos to Amy Evans at amy.evans@aapc.com. Make sure your name is in the email. *

The fine print...
Submitting your photo to AAPC gives us permission to publish/use your photo.

Fantasyland Re-Imagained

Big news at Walt Disney World, Thursday, December 7, they will be unveiling the brand new Fantasyland expansion.  This expansion is the largest expansion in the Magic Kingdom's four-decade history, nearly doubling the size of Fantasyland.

Fantasyland is one of the seven themed lands of the Magic Kingdom.  This land is inspired by Disney animated classics such as Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Dumbo.

The "Enchanted Forest" expansion features a Little Mermaid ride "Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid", a Beauty and Beast-themed "Be Our Guest Restaurant" and Ariel's Grotto.

When you come to AAPC's conference you will definitely want to check out the newly updated Fantasyland!  For more details check out there website.

Be Our Guest

Dear AAPC Members:

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to attend our 2013 National Conference in beautiful Orlando, Florida, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Convention Center. The setting alone will lay the foundation for a magical experience for all.  Years ago, Walt Disney said: “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”  We couldn’t agree more, and this conference will do just that! With the launch of our ICD-10 General Code Set Training (which some called impossible) and the broad offering of pertinent, timely health care subjects combined with loads of fun – this is one conference you won’t want to miss!  From the minute you book your ticket, you’ll be part of the magic – the Disney Magic Express (DME) from the Orlando airport, the magic of seeing old friends and making new, the magic you feel as you grasp new concepts and increase your level of  knowledge, and of course, the actual magic of enjoying Disney World with your complimentary ticket!  So please join me for an unforgettably magical experience as we journey together toward ICD-10 implementation, hone other coding, compliance, and audit skills, or even jump into one of our practice management sessions.

Let me end with one more quote from Walt, who said, “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”  We’ve heard the talk for years….it’s time to begin the walk.  See you there!
